要全面实现这些功能,需要一定的资金规模和时间哈。
目前只能一步步涉足。

“Enhanced processor support for FT”目前比较关注这个的细节。

目前的新5.0还未能支持smp FT, 但已有计划在下一个大补丁或5.x版本中加入。

每个物理主机,最大支持512个虚拟机。

个人觉得有这个可行性。
就我的双六核、144G内存的服务器上看,日常跑近20个虚拟机(其中还包括划了2个32G、1个16G内存的数据库、应用服务),CPU负荷最高不超过25,通常在10。因此四个E7 10核处理器,配置512G内存或者1T内存,跑256+虚拟机,完全是可能的。

目前跑ESXi的两个主机,一个是4G×18买来后,跑ESXi,没多久就发现CPU绰绰有余!内存已经快满了;所以再买一个服务器的时候,内存配置的是8G×18。

用满了。R710一共只有18根。
我大致看过,内存配置到一定程度后,R810可能会比R710核算。一个是E7 2850/4850(其实用于四插槽的服务器的叫4xxx,用于二插槽的服务器叫2xxx)处理器,一个是X5650处理器。

Yes, if R710 is full, then R810 is the good choice, as it has 32 Dimms, so two sockets is enough. (I've been there before, so I knew)
Strange enough if you pop up all 4 sockets, the bus speed will be cut into half. (ie, so it's better use two sockets on R810)
