Virtual Internet Routing Lab
Simulate Your Design
Challenge
There's more demand than ever to provide new network services or make changes to live environments. This, in turn, pushes the need to design, test, and deploy services quickly and consistently. Testing and verifying network services in topologies at scale is a challenge, particularly when lab equipment requires power, space, and cooling.
Solution
Virtual Internet Routing Lab (VIRL) is a network virtualization platform in which high-fidelity network models can be built and used for hands-on training and education as well as providing a testing and development environment.
VIRL can run a range of Cisco images (IOS-XE, IOS-XR, IOS, and NXOS) as well as 3rd party appliances. The VIRL GUI enables rapid topology design and visualization, as well as integration with router configuration-generation tools. The architecture is scalable from a laptop to a data center.
Benefits
Benefits of VIRL are numerous, and so are the use cases. You can reduce risks by testing and verifying potential changes before applying them to the live network.
Imagine the value of having a virtual network of Cisco routers. You could simulate your corporate IT network, your lab network, or your data center. And you could scale to accommodate the needs of your user community. Cisco VIRL makes it easy to design and deploy virtualized networks, so you can use your resources more efficiently. See how VIRL can simulate your design.
